Description

Beef Stir-Fry with Vegetables is a quick, flavorful, and colorful dish combining tender strips of beef with fresh vegetables tossed in a savory, slightly sweet sauce. Perfect for busy weeknights, it offers a balanced, wholesome meal that’s easy to customize and cooks in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef and Marinade

  • 300g flank or sirloin beef strips
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp cornstarch

Vegetables

  • 1 bell pepper (red, yellow, or green), sliced
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 medium carrot, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Sauce

  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp water or broth
  • 1 tsp sesame oil (for finishing)
  • 1 tbsp vegetable or cooking oil (for stir-frying)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Ingredients: Slice the beef into thin strips against the grain for tenderness. Chop all vegetables into bite-sized pieces and finely mince garlic and ginger.
  2. Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, combine beef strips, soy sauce, sesame oil, and cornstarch. Mix well and let it marinate for about 10 minutes to tenderize and flavor the meat.
  3. Stir-Fry the Beef: Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat with a splash of vegetable oil. Quickly sear the beef until browned but not fully cooked. Remove from pan and set aside.
  4. Cook the Vegetables: In the same pan, stir-fry garlic and ginger until fragrant. Add carrots and broccoli first as they take longer to cook, then add bell peppers. Toss and cook until crisp-tender.
  5. Combine and Sauce: Return beef to the pan with vegetables. Pour in oyster sauce, soy sauce, and water or broth. Stir well and cook for a few minutes until the sauce thickens and coats everything beautifully.
  6. Final Touches: Turn off heat, drizzle with remaining sesame oil, garnish with sliced green onions, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Thin slicing of beef is crucial for quick cooking and tenderness.
  • Use high heat to achieve a nice sear and crisp vegetables.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan; stir-fry in batches if necessary to maintain heat.
  • Prepare all ingredients before cooking as stir-frying moves quickly.
  • Adjust soy and oyster sauce quantities to match your taste preferences.
