Description

Delight your family and friends this spring with these easy-to-make, fudge filled Easter eggs. Creamy fudge centers wrapped in smooth chocolate shells create a rich and indulgent bite-sized treat perfect for gifting, sharing, or enjoying as a festive dessert. Customizable and fun to prepare, these eggs bring joy and sweetness to any celebration.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Chocolate Shells

  • 1 ½ cups good quality semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips

For the Fudge Filling

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder or ¼ cup melted chocolate (optional for intense chocolate flavor)

Optional Additions and Decorations

  • Finely chopped nuts (pecans, almonds) for mix-in
  • White chocolate chips for shell alternative
  • Flavored extracts (peppermint, orange, almond) instead of vanilla
  • Colored sprinkles, edible glitter, or drizzled contrasting chocolate for decoration

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chocolate Shells: Melt chocolate chips gently using a double boiler or microwave in short bursts, stirring frequently to avoid burning. Using a spoon or brush, evenly coat the inside of silicone egg molds with the melted chocolate. Refrigerate for 10-15 minutes to harden, then apply a second thinner layer for sturdiness and chill again.
  2. Make the Fudge Filling: In a mixing bowl, blend softened butter, sweetened condensed milk, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and cocoa powder or melted chocolate if desired. Whip the mixture until smooth and thick enough to hold its shape while still creamy for easy spooning.
  3. Fill the Chocolate Shells: Remove the hardened chocolate shells from the fridge. Gently fill each with the fudge mixture, leaving a small gap at the top to seal. Smooth the surface with a spatula for a polished finish.
  4. Seal the Eggs: Melt additional chocolate chips and carefully spread a thin layer over the fudge filling in each egg to seal. Place the eggs back in the fridge until fully set and firm to touch.
  5. Unmold and Decorate: Once completely cooled, gently pop the fudge filled Easter eggs out of their molds. Decorate as desired with drizzled chocolate, colorful sprinkles, or edible shimmer dust to create a festive and eye-catching presentation.

Notes

  • Use quality chocolate for smoother shells and richer flavor.
  • Allow melted chocolate to cool slightly before applying to prevent cracking.
  • Be patient and chill between layers to avoid fragile or messy shells.
  • Test with one egg first to adjust consistency and technique.
  • Keep butter and condensed milk at room temperature for smoother filling.
