Instructions

  1. Activate the Yeast: Warm your water to about 110°F to 115°F—perfect for waking up the yeast without killing it. Stir in your yeast and a teaspoon of honey, then let it sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy and bubbly.
  2. Mix the Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine whole wheat flour, salt, the remaining honey, olive oil, and the activated yeast mixture. Stir until a rough dough forms.
  3. Knead the Dough: Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead vigorously for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic. A well-kneaded dough will spring back when poked gently.
  4. First Rise: Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours until doubled in size.
  5. Shape and Second Rise: Punch down the dough to release air, shape it into a loaf, and place it in your greased bread pan. Cover again, letting it rise for 30–45 minutes until puffed and nearly doubled.
  6. Bake to Perfection: Preheat your oven to 375°F and bake the bread for 30–35 minutes until golden brown on top and hollow-sounding when tapped underneath. Allow it to cool before slicing.
