Ingredients

Scale

Meat and Protein

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 68 strips bacon

Cheeses

  • 1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Optional: 1/2 cup ricotta or cream cheese for extra creaminess

Vegetables and Aromatics

  • 34 garlic cloves, freshly minced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped

Pasta and Sauce

  • 912 lasagna noodles, cooked al dente
  • 3 cups tomato sauce (lightly seasoned marinara)

Seasonings and Fats

  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Red pepper flakes, to taste (optional)
  • Butter or olive oil for sautéing

Instructions

  1. Cook the Bacon and Ground Beef: Fry bacon strips in a pan until crisp, then place them on paper towels to drain excess fat. In the same pan with the rendered bacon fat, sauté chopped onions and freshly minced garlic until softened and fragrant. Add ground beef, season with salt, pepper, and oregano, and cook until browned and crumbly. Drain any excess fat carefully.
  2. Prepare the Cheese Mixture: In a bowl, combine shredded mozzarella, Parmesan, and cheddar cheeses. For extra creaminess, stir in ricotta or cream cheese if desired.
  3. Assemble the Layers: Spread a thin layer of tomato sauce at the bottom of your baking dish. Layer cooked lasagna noodles over the sauce, then spread half of the beef mixture evenly on top. Crumble half of the cooked bacon over the beef, and generously sprinkle a layer of the cheese mixture. Repeat the layering process ending with a cheese layer on top.
  4. Bake to Perfection: Cover the assembled lasagna with foil. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  5. Let it Rest and Serve: Allow the lasagna to rest for about 10 minutes after baking to set and make slicing easier. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley or basil and extra grated Parmesan if desired before serving.

Notes

  • Par-cook noodles al dente to prevent mushy layers.
  • Drain excess fat from cooked beef to avoid greasiness.
  • Use fresh minced garlic for best flavor.
  • Crisp bacon thoroughly to add texture and avoid sogginess.
  • Let the dish rest after baking to improve sliceability and meld flavors.
