Philly Cheesesteak Sliders

  • Author: Lina
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 6-8 sliders 1x
  • Diet: Gluten Free (use gluten-free slider buns)

Description

Philly Cheesesteak Sliders are bite-sized sandwiches featuring tender thinly sliced ribeye or sirloin steak, melted provolone or American cheese, and caramelized onions served on soft slider buns. Perfect for quick dinners, game days, or parties, these sliders deliver rich, savory flavors in an easy-to-make and customizable mini sandwich.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat and Cheese

  • 1 lb thinly sliced ribeye or sirloin steak (freeze 30 minutes for easier slicing)
  • 68 slices provolone or American cheese (or cheese of choice)

Bread

  • 68 soft slider buns

Vegetables

  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced (optional)

Other

  • 2 tablespoons butter (for sautéing and toasting)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Steak: Freeze the ribeye or sirloin steak for about 30 minutes beforehand to make slicing into thin strips easier. Then, carefully cut into thin, bite-sized pieces for quick cooking and the perfect cheesesteak texture.
  2. Sauté the Onions and Peppers: In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add thinly sliced onions and bell peppers, cooking gently until caramelized and soft, about 10-15 minutes, developing a sweet, rich flavor.
  3. Cook the Steak: Push the onions and peppers to the side in the same skillet, increase heat to medium-high, add the steak strips, season with salt and pepper, and cook quickly until browned but still juicy, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Assemble the Sliders: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the slider buns horizontally and place the bottom halves in a baking dish. Distribute the cooked steak and vegetable mixture evenly, then layer with provolone or your choice of cheese.
  5. Melt the Cheese and Toast Buns: Place the assembled sliders in the oven and bake for 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese melts perfectly. Meanwhile, toast the tops of the buns in a skillet with a little butter for extra crunch and flavor.
  6. Serve Warm: Once cheesy and melty, place the toasted bun tops on the sliders and serve immediately for best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Freeze steak first to make slicing thin strips easier and ensure even cooking.
  • Use high heat to quickly sear steak and lock in juices.
  • Caramelize onions slowly for best sweetness and flavor.
  • Cook steak in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding and tough meat.
  • Choose soft slider buns that complement tender meat and melty cheese.
  • For added flavor, brush buns with garlic butter before toasting.
  • Customize with different cheeses, veggies, or sauces to suit your taste.
