			Main Ingredients
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning mix
- 1 can (8 oz) crescent roll dough
- 2 cups shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese
- 1/2 cup salsa
Optional Toppings
- Sour cream
- Sliced black olives
- Diced tomatoes
- Chopped green onions
- Fresh cilantro
Instructions
- Prepare the Taco Meat: Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Drain excess fat, then add the taco seasoning mix and a splash of water. Simmer until the mixture thickens and flavors meld.
- Preheat and Prepare the Baking Dish: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a casserole dish to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
- Layer the Crescent Rolls: Unroll the crescent dough and separate into individual triangles. Arrange half of the triangles in the bottom of the baking dish, slightly overlapping to create an even base layer.
- Add the Taco Meat and Toppings: Spread the seasoned beef evenly over the crescent roll base. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese on top, then spoon a couple of spoonfuls of salsa over the cheese.
- Add the Final Crescent Layer and Cheese: Cover the beef mixture with the remaining crescent roll triangles, overlapping as before. Sprinkle the remaining cheese evenly on top.
- Bake Until Golden: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the crescent rolls are puffed, golden brown, and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Top with optional garnishes such as sour cream, diced tomatoes, chopped cilantro, or green onions. Cut into squares and serve.
Notes
- Ensure crescent rolls overlap to prevent filling from leaking during baking.
- Drain cooked beef well to avoid a greasy casserole.
- Remove casserole as soon as the crust is golden to keep it tender.
- Use fresh salsa and good quality cheese for best flavor.
- Let the casserole rest briefly before slicing to maintain shape.
