Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 2 tbsp taco seasoning
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 green onions, chopped
  • 2 medium tomatoes, chopped (optional, for serving)
  • 12 jalapeños, chopped (optional, for serving)
  • 1 tube crescent roll dough (about 8 oz)

Optional for Serving

  • Sour cream
  • Guacamole
  • Salsa

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling: Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain excess fat, stir in taco seasoning and water, and simmer for a few minutes to meld the flavors.
  2. Roll Out the Dough: Unroll crescent roll dough onto a large baking sheet in a circular shape. Arrange individual triangles in a ring with wide ends overlapping in the center, forming a dough “flower”.
  3. Add the Filling: Spoon the seasoned beef evenly atop the wide edges of the dough ring, leaving centers clear for folding. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese and chopped green onions over the meat.
  4. Fold the Dough: Fold each triangle’s pointed tip over the filling toward the center, slightly overlapping each fold to lock in the filling and create the ring shape.
  5. Bake Until Golden: Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes, or until dough is golden and crispy and cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Serve Warm: Let the Taco Ring cool for a few minutes. Serve with sour cream, guacamole, salsa, or your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • Use room temperature dough to prevent cracks during folding and ensure even baking.
  • Don’t overfill the triangles to avoid difficulties folding and leaks.
  • Brush dough with beaten egg before baking for a shiny, golden crust.
  • Add fresh chopped tomatoes and jalapeños after baking for added crunch and color.
  • Let the ring rest briefly before slicing for cleaner cuts.
